We work at changing the conversation on all Mental Illness.  How it's seen and how it's treated.

Do you find that your thoughts and emotions are less controllable rather than more controllable?  Do you feel like you have no place in the world around you?  That nobody can understand what you think and how you feel?  Like being an alien from another dimension?  Maybe we can help each other.  There has to be something better for all of us.  Many of us are serving life sentences with our conditions with no cure in sight.  And in many cases, even those people closest to us, who want to help the most have difficulty understanding.

Some thoughts to consider..

We are not without purpose.

Regardless of our conditions we all share more issues rather than less issues.

We need to understand that part of our frustration is in trying to make those who don't understand and can't relate, understand our conditions and issues.  This tends not to work because the abled have no reference point.

In respect to all of our conditions we have a culture most don't realize.  We have our own language.  In this regard we need to teach those around us and those who seek to help and care for us, this language so they can better understand what we go through.  It's not easy but it's certainly easier than trying to force the interpretation where it doesn't fit.

You are never alone.  There are those who understand what you are going through.  From those with similar conditions to those with the exact same conditions.  We are really one people in that we are more alike than not.  But make no mistake.  Our conditions are unique and distinctive.  Not everyone with any given condition will have the same reactions or responses to it.  And that can contribute to the misunderstanding the abled have regarding us.

It's time to stop living half lives and start living our best lives.

Nobody should have to suffer in silence or alone.  But way too many do.  So we really can help ourselves by helping each other.  And helping the abled understand.
